About The Artist:

Brian (Dempsy) Fisher was born on 2nd January 1966 at Cherbourg, an Aboriginal Reserve on Wakka Wakka Land in South East Queensland, his Mother being from the Kaialie Tribe.

Brian was taught traditional Aboriginal Art and Culture by his Father Jim (*Boongar") and his Uncles. He has developed his own striking style over the years, mainly using the four basic "Earth” colours in his paintings. Brian's work been exhibited around the World and he is also well known for his famous murals on numerous walls at schools where he has taught Aboriginal Art.  

Brian signs his paintings under his "Wingla Dada" Aboriginal name.  Is regarded by many as the best ever Aboriginal Artist to transpose the legendary Dreamtime stories into paintings. He is also being commissioned by a number of Australian Cities and Shire Councils to paint the Aboriginal stories surrounding the background and history of notable places in their areas.  

Amongst Brian's many notable Awards he has received, he prides himself in being awarded the prestigious Queensland Native Artists' Award in 1988 (by NAIDOC).
